Checking for the day’s weather- this is very important because mother nature has a way of making things happen, but if you are prepared and checked the weather this will help you and your guide to plan the day well, the guide will know how long the next hut is so that you may use it for shelter.

Packing important items- Huts on the mountain do not all have groceries that you may purchase for food, it is a good idea to pack for food, you can buy food in trading centers in Chitakale or Mulanje Boma, other things that need packing are tents if you are planning on building a camp, proper shoes that are not slippery on rocks, check your gear if you are planning on rock climbing, don’t check while rock climbing.

Water – this is very important to keep you from dehydration, you can buy water from the trading center but also you get fresh mountain water in the streams that flows down the mountain, so the most important thing is to carry with you a bottle to store your water.

Know your limits- it is ok to stop and rest while enjoying the beautiful scenery on top of the mountain, it is true an amazing opportuning to clear your mind and appreciate nature, set your camp and have some tea while you are looking at the sunset, watching the sun kissing the earth good night.
